A little known company called Psystar has released Mac clone computers (non-apple computers that run the Mac OS). We strongly advise the CustomSolve community to not buy these products yet.
A more formal report will follow as facts emerge, but for now: > There are highly likely legal issues that will arise from selling and buying these PCs. Not only from Apple, but also from the developers that made the software behind running the Mac OS on non-apple hardware. > The machines function less than smoothly, video evidence is available from Engadget's article. > Psystar as a company are not established, have moved addresses 3 times in the last two weeks and offer little support to consumers. On a more general note, CustomSolve's belief behind the benefits of using Macs lies largely in the fact the computers are built with tightly integrated hardware and software. The reliability and ease of use of anything except basic Office packages is lost by removing this integration. |
